Zebra Danio and Goldfish Care Guide
This Goldfish Care Guide is produced to help you be a successful fish keeper. The minimum recommended bowl size for one small goldfish is one gallon. Two gallon bowls are good for three or four Zebra Danios instead of goldfish. Water must always be dechlorinated. Use "Aqua-Plus" and let stand for a few minutes before putting in fish. The bowl water must be the same temperature as the water int he bag.
When changing water, use a container that has never had soap in it. Fill it up with the same temperature water and dechlorinate with eight drops of "Aqua-Plus" per gallon., Let the water in the bowl sit a few minutes. Never change more than two thirds of the water.
Take your goldfish bowl with the fish still in it to the sink and remove one third of the water and place the water in a clean container. Catch the goldfish with a net and place it in the same container.
Allow warm tap water to pour into the bowl, fluffing up the gravel with your fingers as the water in the bowl overflows. Drain the bowl. Pour the prepared water into the bowl. Then pour the saved water an the goldfish into the bowl. This should be done every three or four or if your fish becomes inactive or doesn't eat.
Feed very little, four to six average size flakes per fish per day. Don't crumble the flakes.
The bowl should be in a bright room, but not near a window. If your bowl is big enough, add a live plant. If the bowl gets very dirty you might be overfeeding. Pour your fish and the saved water into your prepared water and clean the bowl completely with water and a small amount of vinegar. Rinse very thoroughly. NEVER USE SOAP!
