There are a large number of dog breeds available as both pets and working dogs. Here at Centre d'Animaux NATURE Pet stores we are proud to offer a wide variety of puppies from a large number of those standard breeds.
Many of the specialized breeds have been well documented for their various characteristics, temperaments and even their history. In addition to the many recognized breeds by the various kennel clubs like the Canadian Kennel Club, the American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club, the popularity of many alternate mixes of ancestry has grown with many cross breeds becoming well known as great pets as well.
There are hundreds of recognized breeds available to offer people companionship and the unconditional love the canine friend has provided since before recorded history.
Many have been selectively bred for particular traits and characteristics for many thousand years. Much experimentation has occurred during that time and we have a wide variation in appearance, size, shape and temperament as a result.
Dogs have become an integral part of all civilizations and hold a very special place in the hearts of their owners and the many families they impact.
There are huge variations in dogs, from the smallest teacup chihuahua to the largest breed such as the Great Dane or Mastiff, but what is most amazing, all are considered as the same species. With this great degree of differentiation in both size and temperament, the particular needs of almost any individual or family will find the perfect companion.
The wide selection of dogs can make the right selection a bit confusing. Our expert advisers are available to help you select the right dog breed for your particular situation and the actual requirements you may have for the addition of a dog as a companion in your household.
Some of the puppies we offer include:
- Companion Dogs - dogs that do not work, mainly provide companionship as a pet
- Working Dogs this is more a kennel club definition than a particular trait or temperament. The definition varies between the various clubs and generally includes with it:
- Herding Dogs - these breeds will tend to control and contain other animals by herding them
- Hunting Dogs - these breeds are useful for hunting or retrieving objects.
They characteristically will fetch quarry or flush it from hiding places - Guard Dogs - their main focus is on protecting and watching over people or property
